Pre-Rally Day 1 Day 2 Day 3 Day 4 Day 5 Day 6 Post-Rally

Well it’s all over now. We are back home in the UK, driving our boring normal cars on the left hand side of the road, not having to yank on the hand brake every 100 yards because we have seen a castle that we need to take a picture of.

The road to Krakow was a lot of fun, but also hard work and tiring, not only on the drivers but also on the cars. It is amazing that all of the 11 cars made it to the finish line, not one of them worth more than £100.

There have however been oil leaks, water leaks, overheating, speeding fines (Even Pete, one of the organisers, got one!!) and of course not forgetting clutch cables breaking. But despite these problems, the teams have pulled through and completed the rally, even if it meant stopping for ten minutes every half hour to stop their car overheating. (Dalmatian car)

For our team it was just shy (1,965) of 2000 miles door to door, and there are teams who have kept their cars to run them into the ground even further to Berlin and onto Amsterdam (Little and Large do Europe).

We have met some nice people and think that every team has had a great time over the week, with many beer fuelled nights out and regular sabotage attempts on cars by Andy, keeping every one guessing what they would wake up to the next morning.

Car 46, the 1992 Vauxhall Cavalier, has been left in Poland, with a very happy hotel owner. It took the best part of an hour to get through to him that we were giving him the car and wanted no money for it; but in the end, he understood and we settled for a ride to the airport on Sunday morning as payment.

At the end we were in 5th place, reminded by the organisers that there were no points for being first to the end every day, as it’s a Rally and not a Race!... although we have a sneaking suspicion that Paul is considering a race round the Nurburgring next year, and we can show him how to drive properly!

We would like to thank Paul and Pete once again for organising a fantastic rally and planning the most amazing routes through incredible places and picturesque backdrops.

If you are reading this and thinking that you fancy doing a banger rally next year, (DO IT! DO IT!), we would highly recommend that you visit the Motoscape web site (see our sponsors links).

You will see why we chose to do the MOTOSCAPE Rally and not one of the other rallies where the organisers leave you to sort out your own accommodation, or ones where there are 100 cars so no one gets to meet one another, and everyone stays in different hotels.

Paul and Pete really did a great job and we know that they are planning a really great 2008 rally, with visits to some amazing places. If you are a motor sport fan, you should e-mail them from their site and ask for next year’s route.......it looks fantastic!

We would also like to thank Alex’s dad, Peter, who built and has updated the site day and night with details of our rally..... Everyone we have spoken to has said how good the site looks and how easy to use it is.

Thanks also to Stevo M for his help with car prep and route planning advice.

Thank you for visiting our site and following our progress, we will update it throughout the year with details of the 2008 rally!!!
