Text Msg in - " Have set off now. Lost 1st gear this morning for half an hour but it's warmed up and we got it now. Challenge today is 9 photos by various statues with extra points for comedy shots. Looks like it's clothes off time! hehe! Currently third-ish on road because of gear problems - 5th in official points on Challenges Table. Couldn't get internet access last night but will try to fax further news if no internet tonight" |
Phone call in - Believe pulled back into first on road - gearbox seems fine - oil levels ok. About 190 mile route today, and not as punishing as the high mountains yesterday. More reports soon. |
Text Msg in - Arrived at Hotel in Bled! First again on Road! Starving - but checking in, having a clean up and then going for food (and a beer). Don't think we have Internet again - will try fax. |
Text Msg in - Arrived at Hotel 15.15hrs (Local Time) ahead of everyone and having overtaken the organisers (Motoscape) on the motorway at 115mph ! (And all five gears, presumably). Next car in 1hr 12mins later and we completed all challenges too. Rough roads too, poor country but nice scenery. Car okay. Using a bit of oil but otherwise okay. 204 miles today. |

Rallyinfo - As predicted, today has been a more straightforward day (I nearly said leisurely!) - a gnat's whisker over 200 miles through some beautiful but not over-challenging routes. A phone conversation with the team earlier tonight confirms Internet not available - but we have received a few interesting images via mobile phone and these will be processed and published before mid-day (all being well) tomorrow. We are certainly going to have immense updates of images and video clips to action in post-rally reports. |

Losing first gear certainly gave them food for thought. Not a problem with a 2.00 litre 5-speed for normal driving - if it had been up in the high mountains it might have posed more of a problem and would certainly have put the clutch under pressure. But the basic cause must be worrying, and the fact it came back after 30 minutes or so a puzzler. We will investigate a few avenues and monitor closely. Keep watching for updates that we will post on the front page Ticker-Tape! And thank you for the email messages of encouragement - Dan and Alex have been informed until they can download them to read for themselves. Keep them coming! Email: info@rallyinfo.co.uk |
